A Look at Stop Smoking Programs
Only 5% of all quitters will succeed without some type of stop smoking programs. Five percent! This means 95% of all quitters fail without some sort of help. There are many different stop smoking programs available to quitters making it possible for a smoker to find something that may work for them. The main point is to keep trying because you will succeed if you truly wish to quit. I know I quit nearly 20 years ago.

A revolutionary new stop smoking program has an individual give himself/herself a low voltage shock from a regular 9 volt battery as he/she has a smoke. This study shows a primary success rate of close to 100% with half of them still smoke-free after a year’s time.

There are stop smoking programs that compare an antidepressant, to nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and a combination of both. The antidepressant alone had a higher success rate than NRTs alone but when the two were combined the success rate was slightly higher than the antidepressant alone. More of those using the combination of the antidepressant and NRTs stop smoking after a year than those who use just the inhaler.

There are prescription stop smoking medications available from your physician which help some smokers quit. These stop smoking programs when monitored by your physician and taken according to the directions on the package prove to be somewhat successful. Remember that when starting these stop smoking programs that if the medication is nicotine free you must begin it a week to ten days prior to your planned stop date. If your medication contains nicotine then start the product on your planned stop date.

A recent stop smoking program study showed that using a nicotine inhaler with a nicotine patch can increase your stop smoking efforts over using each individually. Stop smoking programs using nicotine replacement therapies such as gum, inhalers, and patches have been shown to increase your chances of quitting but sadly only 5% of these individuals refrained from smoking after a year.

Stop smoking programs aren’t perfect but they are more effective than quitting on your own. So find a stop smoking program you can live with and stop smoking now!
